ACU and its students, faculty and staff are so appreciative of the investment of generosity our donors have made. Here are a few examples of how that generosity is making a difference at ACU.
For April (Bullock ’89) Anthony, ACU’s board chair, the grand opening of Bullock Hall on Aug. 20, 2021, was an opportunity to honor her parents and her brothers and their wives, for whom the new residence hall is named. For the McDonald family, it represented an opportunity to remember A.F. and Cornelia McDonald – ACU pioneers and the namesakes of McDonald Hall, an original building on the ACU campus that was demolished in 2020 to make way for Bullock Hall.
Two generous gifts to Abilene Christian University will provide funding for faculty in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice and a student scholarship in the Department of Music. Dr. Neal Coates, professor and chair of political science and criminal justice, established the two endowments in honor of his late wife, Cynthia Coates.
Grace Russell (’21) stepped out of her comfort zone to travel to Nicaragua last summer on a combination study abroad and mission trip. ACU’s Wildcat Academics on Mission (WAM) program, a partnership between the Halbert Center for Missions and Global Service and the university’s academic departments, provides an integrated missions and academic experience at no cost to students beyond the tuition they pay for their course work.
