This year's honorees include:

Farris is an appellate partner at Yetter Coleman, a litigation boutique law firm and for the past three years has been named a “Texas Rising Star," in appellate advocacy by Thomson Reuters' Super Lawyers. A graduate of Harvard Law School, she has successfully argued cases on behalf of clients before the Fifth Circuit, the Sixth Circuit, and several Texas courts of appeals.

Michael Hagerty (’01), Houston (pictured, center)
Hagerty is the senior producer of Houston Matters at Houston Public Media. After four seasons as a professional sports public address announcer, Hagerty moved into multimedia news reporting and produces coverage in video, audio, graphic design, writing and photography in one of the country's largest markets.

John Scaggs (’90), Colorado Springs, Colorado (pictured, right)
Scaggs is president and CEO of WAY Media/WAY-FM, the national leader in Contemporary Christian music. The 30 year-old broadcast network he leads owns and operates 20 full-power FM radio stations and 24 low-power repeater stations in 12 states.

Introduced in 1993, the Gutenberg Award recognizes distinguished professional achievements of Journalism and Mass Communication Department alumni.  To be considered for the award, a candidate must be (at least) a 10-year alumnus or alumna of ACU. Selections are made by JMC department faculty, and honorees are presented scale models of Gutenberg printing presses crafted by former chair Dr. Charlie Marler. From 1982-1988, the department annually honored one outstanding JMC graduate before initiating Gutenbergs.
